Joseph P. Addabbo Family Health Center

The Joseph P. Addabbo Family Health Center, established in 1987, is the largest Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in Queens County, New York and serves a medically underserved, geographically isolated and transportation-challenged community. Our services will be provided with respect to the social, religious, cultural, and economic needs of the communities we serve. Through education, innovation, and community partnerships, we will anticipate and exceed the expectations of our patients and communities. The center was created with the assistance of the late Congressman Joseph P. Addabbo, Sr. who put forth legislation to create the center as the first Queens County FQHC. Building on a historic commitment of service to the community, the mission of the center is that “The Joseph P. Addabbo Family Health Center will be the leading preventive and comprehensive primary health care provider in the Queens and Brooklyn. We are committed to providing services that are patient-focused, high quality, accessible, and cost-effective. Our services will be provided with respect to the social, religious, cultural, and economic needs of the communities we serve. Through education, innovation, and community partnerships, we will anticipate and exceed the expectations of our patients and communities."

Over time, the Centers have come to serve the Queens and Brooklyn communities including many patients covered by Medicaid, commercial or other insurance and managed care plans. A sliding fee scale is offered to ensure that services are accessible to all.

Offering care at five sites - in Arverne, Far Rockaway, Jamaica New York and a new clinic in the Red Hook section of Brooklyn set to open on June 13, 2011 - the center offers a broad range of accessible service to meet the needs of the Queens community.

These include:

  • Primary Health Care (Adult and Pediatrics )
  • Dental Care Services
  • Mental Health Services
  • OB/GYN , including pre- and post- natal care

The broad community support for the Center is indicative of both the need for services and high quality of care offered by Addabbo. Congressman Gregory W. Meeks is a former Chairman of the Board of Directors and a long time supporter of the Addabbo Family Health Center.
