Community Health Care Association of New York State (CHCANYS)

As New York’s Primary Care Association, the Community Health Care Association of New York State (CHCANYS) serves as the voice of New York’s federally qualified health centers. These community health centers serve nearly 2.3 million New Yorkers each year at approximately 850 locations statewide, and are the heart of New York’s health care safety net.

CHCANYS’ VISION

Every New York State community has primary care that encompasses all aspects of each patient’s health and well-being.

CHCANYS’ MISSION

Champion community-centered primary care in New York State through leadership, advocacy, and support of Community Health Centers.

CHCANYS supports FQHCs with tools and information necessary to maintain and improve existing programs, strengthen core services, and build new programs. Our highly-skilled staff work to ensure that all New Yorkers have continuous access to high-quality, community-based health care services through health policy leadership, regulatory reform, and grassroots advocacy.

CHCANYS has a proven track record of addressing the needs of its FQHCs by sharing information and developing training and technical assistance modules on a variety of topics, enabling our health centers to meet contractual reporting obligations, address regulatory changes, and standardize and improve care.

CHCANYS has offices in Albany and New York City. Our main program areas are: Policy and Advocacy; Quality Improvement; Workforce Development; Statewide Health Information Technology; Health Center Support; Emergency Management; and AmeriCorps/Community HealthCorps.
