Additional Narrative: Specialty Programs and Services

Services:

Clinic Care: QueensCare Family Clinics provides care to LA County residents, regardless of ability to pay. There are currently six clinic locations. Physicians are, for the most part, Board Certified, and are bilingual or multi-lingual in the language appropriate to the community they serve. Most clinics also have dispensing pharmacies on site. The Clinics are one of the largest providers of care under Los Angeles County’s Public/Private Partnership.

Dental and Vision Care: Dental services and vision care are available at many of the Clinic sites. QFC is one of the very few places providing low-cost dental and vision care.

Specialist Care: Patients who need a specialist's care, and who qualify under eligibility guidelines, are referred to the QueensCare Family Clinics’ Chief Medical Officer, who authorizes a visit to one of many QueensCare contracted specialists.

Hospitalization: QueensCare Family Clinics provides for the hospitalization of patients whose residency and household income qualifies them for the QueensCare Inpatient Healthcare Fund program. Through QueensCare, patients can be admitted to several non-profit hospitals under contract for this purpose. Patients must be residents of a 10 zip code primary service area in central Los Angeles; have income at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL); and be ineligible for any medical insurance program. Hospitals currently participating in the program include Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, California Hospital Medical Center, Children's Hospital Los Angeles, Glendale Memorial Hospital, Good Samaritan Hospital, Providence/St. Joseph's Medical Center, St. Vincent Medical Center, and White Memorial Medical Center.

Special Programs Founded by QueensCare:

Prior to separating from QueensCare the following programs were founded and funded by QueensCare in the Clinics. All of these programs are continuing to this day under the partnership between QueensCare and the Clinics.

Vision Program: QueensCare provides free eye exams and prescription glasses to LAUSD middle school children. The program operates in 25 middle schools in the primary and secondary service areas, among the poorest, most densely populated and culturally diverse areas of the County.

Mobile Dental Program: The QueensCare Mobile Dental Program operates from four mobile dental vans, each containing three dental chairs. The vans operate in pairs, visiting qualifying LAUSD elementary schools in the primary and secondary service areas on a rotating basis. The original dental van was funded by a grant from the Everychild Foundation. The USC Dental School provided a second van, and the third and forth vans were funded through the generosity of the Ahmanson Foundation, the Weingart Foundation, W.M. Keck Foundation, and others. The program provides a full range of dental services including exams, fillings, teeth cleaning and sealants.
